The TrailMax brand has its roots at Outfitters Supply in Columbia Falls, Montana. Russ Barnett has owned and operated Outfitters Supply since its beginnings as a saddle and tack shop in July of 1986. Russ learned from the best how to build pack saddles, and repair tack and saddles, and carried just about everything the backcountry horseback rider could want. After using, complaining about and repairing too many poor saddlebags, Russ designed the TrailMax Original Saddlebag System and began sewing it in the shop along with the pack saddles.
About that same time, Russ began building a mailing list from people driving by on their way to Glacier National Park (what kind of horse owner doesn’t stop by every tack shop they pass?), and went from a one page pamphlet to the 34-page oversize catalog we have today. From that, we received requests from other tack shops for the TrailMax system, and began streamlining production and growing our dealer network. Now, still operating as a small business in the original location, we have our full line of essential gear from the trail available at www.OutfittersSupply.com. TrailMax products are available in many tack shops across the country, as well as in Norway, France and Canada.
